Petrel "Play" SGL

Designed for larger paddlers, the Petrel Play SGL offers increased maneuverability and volume without sacrificing comfort. With dimensions of 16', 25", and a weight capacity of 250-350 lbs, it is ideal for both rough and calm waters.

The Petrel Play SGL is a scaled-up version of the Petrel Play. It’s designed for heavier paddlers who want to play in tide races or explore rock gardens. It’s maneuverable, responsive, and comfortable.

The kayak’s length, width, and height are increased to carry a greater displacement. It’s still easy to turn and has a good top speed at 16’. The width of 25” is manageable, and the deck slopes at the sides to minimize apparent width. The bottom is flattened and the hull’s flare reduced to maximize width for displacement while still allowing edging.

The Petrel Play SGL retains the transitional chine of other Petrel designs. The multi-chined bow section rides smoothly over waves and minimizes bow locking. The hard single-chine provides good control for edging turns and support for surfing.

It’s a great all-around kayak for heavier paddlers seeking high-performance in rough water. It’s also suitable for calm water and relaxed paddling. It’s a comfortable platform for any paddling situation.
