Noank, Connecticut boasts a rich history of boat building, with wooden schooner hulks adorning the shoreline. Nick, the designer of the Noank Pulling Boat, was inspired by his childhood visits to the town.
His goal was to create a fast and efficient rowing boat that could navigate the rough waters of Fishers Island Sound. Through strip construction, the boat achieves a lightweight yet sturdy hull with optimal hydrodynamics. To simplify the construction process, the designer chose to incorporate a pre-engineered Piantedosi Row-Wing drop-in unit for the rowing mechanism.
The ultimate aim of the Noank Pulling Boat is to offer a sophisticated and high-performing rowing experience for the local waters, while providing accessible plans and a manual for DIY builders.
The manual can also be purchased separately to aid in the build process, but attempting to construct the boat without it is not recommended.
INCLUDED IN THE PLANS:
- Twenty Two 24" x 36" [61cm x 91cm] Drawing Pages including: An overall drawing, a full size "stacked" form drawing showing all the forms and then all the forms drawn individually and at full size.
- This file requires a large format printer to make hardcopies. You may also try tiling the printing on a smaller printer. If you don't want to do that Full Size Printed Plans are available Here.
INCLUDED IN THE MANUAL
- Building the Noank Pulling Boat: A 130 page building manual describing the entire process of building this rowing craft.

Printing Full Sized Boat Plans
Note: Our PDF boat plans include full-sized drawings of the parts and forms needed to build the boat, as such they are best printed on a large format printer.
If you do not have access to a large format printer, visit Guillemot-Kayaks.com where we sell full-size hard copy of all these plans printed and ready to use. You may also try printing these by "tiling" using your own printer and taping together the large pages.
